Valerya Milovanova

Valerya Milovanova is an illustrator based in London, UK. She works on children’s book commissions and also teaches as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, where she leads lectures and workshops for illustration students.
She loves working with different textures, combining traditional materials such as ink, pencil, watercolour, gouache, and charcoal with digital media to create heartwarming, fun, and inviting illustrations. Valerya also enjoys screenprinting, monoprinting, and RISO, often creating prints for sale. Inspired by history, vintage objects, and the stories they tell, she brings rich detail and warmth to her work, making it engaging for children and adults alike.
Valerya works with major international publishers and has exhibited at events such as the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, London Illustration Fair, Brighton Illustration Fair, and Glasgow Print Fair. Passionate about STEM education and history, she creates illustrations that make complex ideas engaging for young readers.
